Jack Black and Paul Rudd bite off a bit more than they can chew in the trailer for Sony‘s comedy reboot of Anaconda.

Tom Gormican’s reimagining of the 1997 snake-focused horror movie will hit theaters on Dec. 25, just in time for the holidays. Selton Mello, Daniela Melchior, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn and Ione Skye round out the cast for the new feature from Columbia Pictures.

The new Anaconda focuses on a group of friends who were obsessed with the ’90s film and set out to shoot their own version, giant snake and all.

“This is Anaconda, and we no longer have a snake for our snake movie,” Black declares in the trailer. “We have to go out in the jungle and find another one.”

Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) helmed the film from a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce for Fully Formed.

The new Anaconda was announced late last year with Rudd and Black appearing in a video to tease the reboot. “There’s gonna be a big fucking snake, and it’s gonna rip,” Black said in the footage at the time. The two stars also took part in a video segment at CinemaCon earlier this year to promote the movie.

Luis Llosa directed 1997’s Anaconda, with a cast that included Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube and Jon Voight. Spawning a number of sequels, the first movie focused on a National Geographic film crew hunting for the world’s biggest and deadliest snake.

The original Anaconda surpassed $136 million at the worldwide box office ($276 million today).
