Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, director Shashank Khaitan and producer Apoorva Mehta attended the trailer launch of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari at a multiplex in Mumbai. The entourage debate is back in discussion and the team of the film spoke about it.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari trailer launch: Varun Dhawan lists out his entourage members; explains why David Dhawan STOPPED him from bringing his managers to the sets; Janhvi Kapoor adds, “During ‘Panwadi’, Varun would tell us, ‘Pata hai kitni mehengi set hai?’”
Shashank Khaitan began by joking, “The biggest entourage in this movie is of Maniesh! Maniesh travels with the biggest entourage in the world. He has at least 8-9 people travelling with him.”
Maniesh Paul clarified, “I was made fun of saying that yeh ‘Arjun Vailly ki tarah chal ke aa raha hai; peeche 8 log hai’! But those 8 people are his ADs who would tell me, ‘Paaji, aapka dialogue nahin hai. Kuch bana lo’!”
On a serious note, Varun Dhawan said, “You are asking me this question at the wrong production. Dharma is and will always be home for me. When I work on a film produced by Dharma, it feels like it’s my film. It feels like I am making it. So, it doesn’t matter whether or not there was a vanity van. I also want to place it on record that Dharma takes care of the actors in the best way. Only when you work with Dharma and then when you work outside do you realize that they took a lot of care of us. They support talent, regardless of who stands where. A conversation sometimes happens that the hero was given a bigger room while the heroine was allotted a smaller room. But in Dharma Productions, that never happens.”
Varun Dhawan was then asked about his team. He said, “I have my dada, named Krishna and Altaf. These two have been with me since the beginning of my career. I have Mubarak, who is my security guy and Kumar, who’s my spot boy. That’s it. I also had Manoj in the team for years. God bless his soul. He’s no more. My managers, Monica and Nishita, are here, but I never get them on set. This is because my father (David Dhawan) made the rule that no manager would come on the set. On his set, I could never get managers and so, I don’t take them even on other sets.”
Apoorva Mehta revealed, “These guys have been extraordinary. There are times when Varun has called and asked me, ‘Why are we spending too much on this song? The set is looking so huge’. All of them treat us as family and we are blessed to have them in our film.”
Janhvi Kapoor revealed, “Varun is very over-cognizant of these expenses. ‘Panwadi’ was the biggest song of the film and had the biggest set. Before every shot, Varun would come to each of us and say, ‘Pata hai kitna daala hai iss gaane mein? Pata hai kitni mehengi set hai? Now, kill it’! This was the pressure we faced while dancing to that song.”
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari releases in cinemas on October 2.
