The Phoenix police arrested 19-year-old Ryder Corral for destroying a memorial in front of the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) building in Phoenix early Sunday morning.

Authorities confirmed that Ryder Corral was taken into custody after bystanders restrained him until officers arrived. The incident took place near 48th Street and Beverly Road, where a community memorial had been set up to honour Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and TPUSA founder, who was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10.

Online videos reveal Corral trying to destroy the memorial before being wrestled down by a blue-shirted man. The suspect was detained until police officers, who were already in position to control traffic, stepped in.

    CHARGES AGAINST RYDER CORRAL

Corral was identified as a 19-year-old local man by the Phoenix Police. He currently faces multiple charges, including disorderly conduct and criminal damage. No one sustained serious injuries during the fight.

Witnesses described the situation as tense but said community members acted quickly to protect the memorial before authorities arrived.

The memorial that was attacked in the incident was created in memory of Charlie Kirk, who had been murdered just days prior. His killing shocked the conservative community as well as the broader political community.

Turning Point USA made the announcement that there will be a big memorial service on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The gathering will open at 8 am, with the programme scheduled to begin at 11 am. Thousands are expected to attend.

The vandalism incident has drawn widespread condemnation online, with many calling for respect towards the memorial. Despite the disruption, TPUSA has vowed to continue celebrating Kirk’s life and legacy, emphasising unity and resilience in the face of tragedy.
