A man in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district put himself in grave danger after he went close to a wild bear and offered it a cold drink. The incident, filmed for a reel, has now gone viral.

In the video, the bear was seen approaching and drinking directly from the container the youth held. While the act may have looked unusual to viewers, experts have pointed out that such behaviour puts both humans and animals at risk.

In several parts of Chhattisgarh, it is common for wild animals such as bears and leopards to wander into populated areas. However, people attempting to interact with them for the sake of social media content have raised serious concerns.

Wildlife officials note that getting this close to a bear, known for its violent nature, could have led to a sudden attack, leaving the man with no chance to escape.

Feeding wild animals cold drinks or processed food is also dangerous for their health, as they are not accustomed to such substances. Despite repeated incidents surfacing online, questions remain about the absence of strict action or awareness measures from the forest department.
