Bigg Boss 7 fame actor Ajaz Khan has landed in yet another legal trouble after the Indore Crime Branch issued him a notice for sharing a video in support of notorious gangster Salman Lala. The Crime Branch has also written to platforms seeking the suspension of Ajaz Khan’s account.
According to police, the post was flagged as part of a wider crackdown on online glorification of criminals. Officials have already shut down 12 social media accounts and identified over 70 others that allegedly amplified content supporting Lala.
According to the police, Khan shared a video on Instagram about the death of Salman Lala, allegedly claiming that the latter died due to his religion. “It’s being said that Salman Lala got drowned in the pond, but I believe he was a good swimmer. A gangster who swam in the sea cannot die by drowning in a pond. He was killed because he was a Muslim,” he reportedly posted.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia said the police would not tolerate attempts to glamorise criminals, regardless of a person’s status or influence.
Faced with backlash, Khan released a video statement, claiming he had no knowledge of Lala’s criminal background when he shared the post. “I wasn’t aware of the facts. I was told Salman Lala was an influencer and a TikToker. As soon as I learnt the truth, I deleted the post. I regret this mistake,” he said.
The actor has since removed the content and issued a public apology. However, officials confirmed that Khan will still have to appear before the Indore Crime Branch as part of the ongoing probe.
Salman alias Shahnawaz, commonly known as Salman Lala. He was based in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore and emerged as a prominent gangster in the region. By 2025, police say he was linked to 32 separate criminal cases, including allegations of drug trafficking (under the NDPS Act), attempted murder, robbery, rape, extortion, assault, and illegal arms possession.
He died of drowning during a police chase in Indore in August this year. He had first been jailed at the age of just 13 in a rape case.
