Lily James wore a sleeveless black gown for the premiere of her new film “Swiped” in London on Thursday. The actress turned to Balmain‘s resort 2026 collection for her look, which featured gold hardware embellishment at the halter neckline. A statement ruffle was fixed to the body and the formfitting mermaid silhouette dress, adding a feminine touch to the overall aesthetic.

The center ruffle cascaded to the floor, while the bodice and drop waist of the gown included fabric ruching that gave way to a simple skirt. James kept her jewelry minimal, allowing the dress to remain the focal point of her look. The actress collaborated with stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray to execute her “Swiped” London premiere look.
Balmain’s resort 2026 collection debuted in June as part of Paris Resort Week. Curated by creative director Olivier Rousteing, the collection included a compilation of democratized styles, including knitwear and loose shapes.

“The women’s collection pinged between short and snug silhouettes, including a bevy of square-shouldered bolero jackets and perky miniskirts, alongside voluptuously scaled wool coats with exaggerated peak lapels, and full-legged trousers,” Miles Socha wrote in WWD’s review of the collection. “The designer plucked details from the archive of Pierre Balmain, homing in on the ’60s this season, but kept his focus on wardrobe builders, knowing customers are spending carefully these days.”

Socha also noted how it was “interesting to see Rousteing apply himself to new fashion territories, employing several bold florals and Matisse-esque prints, and punching up plainer garments with graphic color combinations that play up the tight or loose shapes.”
Directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, “Swiped” follows the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former chief executive officer of dating platform Bumble. The film debuts on Hulu on Sept. 19.
