While people hoped for her comeback to the industry, Smriti didn’t dishearten her fans and returned to the show after 25 years. Now, in a recent interaction with actress, Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, All About Her, Smriti spoke about various aspects of her life. The actress also stated that her father sponsored her Femina Miss India pageant with a promise that she would pay him back the money.
To repay her father, Smriti took a job at McDonald’s. She was given a year by her father to pay back the money, and Smriti was desperate to find work. She actually went for an interview at Jet Airways. But when she was told that she lacked the personality to be an air hostess, Smriti went to an interview at McDonald’s, which took place at the same venue.

When she went for the interview at McDonald’s, the person told her that the last round is left. When she asked about the job description, Smriti was told that she was supposed to mop the floors and clean the dishes.

When she asked about the money, Smriti was told that she would get Rs. 1500 per month, along with a burger during the break. In the same interaction, Smriti told Soha that she took up the job at McDonald’s only to repay the debt she owed to her father. In her words:
“I had no such ambition that I would be some Meena Kumari. I just wanted to succeed.”

In a throwback interview with Neelesh Mishra recalled her early days in television and how her daily income was Rs. 1,800. She also revealed that her makeup artist was embarrassed to see her, as she used to travel in an auto, while he himself had a car. Over time, Smriti proved herself and became one of the highest-paid television actresses.
As she made a comeback after 25 years, reports suggest she’s charging a massive fee for the same. According to several reports, the actress is taking home a big paycheck of Rs. 14 lakh per episode. In an interview with CNN-News 18, Smriti confirmed the news of being the highest-paid actor on the small screen. However, the actress refrained from disclosing the exact amount.
From earning a monthly income of Rs. 1500 to becoming the highest-paid actress on television, Smriti Irani’s journey has been commendable!
