“The little black Gucci dress, or the little black Gucci dress?” When we think of Victoria Beckham, her sleek, all-black Posh Spice wardrobe—as defined in her ’90s Spice Girls days, duh—instantly comes to mind. Since then, her wardrobe has obviously evolved. These days, the designer is often found wearing pieces from her own refined ready-to-wear label. She has begun to embrace more color, too—be it via one of her blue bodycon dresses, or bright red peep-toe heels.
This morning in New York City, however, Beckham took her love of bright hues to the next level—by choosing to color-clash her statement accessories. Around her arm, she carried a teal Hermès Birkin bag with gold hardware, which on its own would add instant zest to her white tee and gray pencil skirt. But then, Beckham added a pair of red pointed pumps, suddenly transforming her outfit from good to great. (The star has always loved a pop of color, as some of her past outfits with flashes of cherry and burgundy prove this.)

Now, teal and red together? Not exactly the first combination that one would think of pulling off. And yet, somehow, it totally works. Beckham has even taken this unlikely approach to color theory in her own collections: A few seasons ago, her fall 2023 line had all sorts of off-kilter hue pairings. If one is inspired by her approach, just remember how Mrs. Victoria Beckham styled it—by keeping the clothes simple and neutral, and allowing the eye-popping accessories to draw focus.
