HBO has released a trailer for its upcoming series Task, which suggests things won’t end well for at least one of its lead characters.

Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey star in the drama from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. Like Mare of Easttown, Task is set in the suburbs of Philadelphia and delves into some societal issues — drug use, in this case — simmering under the surface. The series is scheduled to premiere in September on HBO and will stream on HBO Max.

Ruffalo plays an FBI agent who’s put in charge of a task force of otherwise fairly inexperienced officers to end a string of violent robberies led by an unassuming family man (Pelphrey). Watch the trailer — soundtracked with “Patience” by Guns n’ Roses — below.

The cast also includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton. Mireille Enos has a recurring role.

Task is based on an original idea by Ingelsby, who serves as writer and showrunner on the series. He executive produces with directors Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Mark Roybal and Paul Lee for Wiip, Ruffalo, David Crockett and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Jeremy Yaches of Public Record are co-exec producers.
