Nargis Fakhri On the Meaning of “Diet”
For Nargis, the word diet often carries unnecessary confusion. She emphasized that it should not be reduced to a weight-loss tool alone. She stated, “A lot of people think, ‘I’m on a diet because I want to lose weight.’ But there is nothing you can do to lose weight except count your calories. It’s simple math. What you put in has to be less than what you burn.”
While calorie control forms the foundation of weight loss, she cautioned against relying solely on empty foods. She said, “You can eat one piece of chocolate cake a day and still lose weight if it fits your calories, but then your skin, hair and energy levels will suffer. Nutrient density matters.”
She believes it is essential to experiment with eating patterns—whether intermittent fasting, small frequent meals, or one meal a day—to see what feels right for the body.
Nargis Fakhri Reveals Why She Stopped Eating Fruits
Interestingly, Nargis hasn’t eaten fruits since 2016. She revealed, “Fruit is nature’s candy. I had to stop eating it for a specific reason, and I never felt like going back.”
Although she avoids fruits, she acknowledges their role as a healthier alternative to processed sweets. The Rockstar actress said, “For most people, strawberries, blueberries, bananas should be your cookies and cakes because they carry nutrients along with natural sugar.”
Nargis Fakhri Speaks On Ghee and Healthy Fats
Nargis admits she is still navigating the science of fats—saturated, unsaturated, and monounsaturated. She noted: “I hear in Asian culture that ghee is really good. I use it sometimes, along with butter, coconut oil, sesame oil, and olive oil. I’ve even heard mustard oil is beneficial.”
Her approach remains one of exploration, trying to learn what works best for her body.
Nargis Fakhri Picks Tea Over Coffee
Once a coffee enthusiast, Nargis has recently switched gears. She asserted, “I was always a coffee person. Now I’ve moved more toward tea—especially chai. These days, I’m having about two cups a day, usually in the morning.”

For Nargis, the biggest challenge comes during film shoots, when routines collapse under erratic schedules. She said, “My sleep changes, travel gets exhausting, and everything goes for a toss. I’m not going to lie—recently I even drank Coca-Cola, which I never do. That’s how difficult it gets sometimes.”
