Infighting has broken out among Gen Z activist groups in Nepal, with clashes reported outside the army headquarters in Kathmandu. The division comes as talks begin for the formation of an interim government, following the ousting of the country’s political elite. One faction accuses the army of negotiating with the wrong people, while others are trying to co-opt the movement. A key point of contention is the inclusion of pro-monarchy figures, such as Durga Prasad, in the discussions. “…some people with political interest and some, a lot of them who are not even Gen Zs…they have started to try to take away the narrative in their side and that’s where the problem is happening.” The Gen Z groups are demanding representation in the new interim government until fresh elections can be held.
