Aditya Roy Kapur recently took fans on a nostalgic trip as he revisited some of the most cherished moments from the shoot of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). In a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the actor opened up about the behind-the-scenes camaraderie that blossomed between him and his co-stars Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Kalki Koechlin during the film’s iconic Manali schedule.

Recalling how their real-life friendship took shape, Aditya said, “I think sometimes you just luck out. You end up clicking, and the energy just matches. That’s what happened on that film. Ayan Mukerji must get some credit for formulating that also.”
The actor revealed that the bonding started even before the cameras rolled. The cast was bundled into a single car for what was supposed to be a seven-to-eight-hour road trip to Manali. As it turned out, the drive stretched to nearly ten hours. “He gave us only one car. So, he made sure the four of us kind of drove together. I think that broke the ice, because that was literally day one. Before any shoot hadn’t happened. We didn’t do workshops or anything,” Aditya recalled with a laugh.
That unexpectedly long journey laid the foundation for a genuine rapport, which, according to him, naturally spilled onto the screen. “This is one of those films where the fun you’re having off-screen kind of filters onto the screen. That’s exactly what happened because we were having a blast while shooting that film.”
The shoot took the team across diverse landscapes—Rajasthan’s desert beauty, Kashmir’s serene snow, the hills of Manali, and of course, bustling Mumbai. Yet, for Aditya, it was that very first road trip that shaped the warmth and authenticity of the friendships that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is still remembered for.
