Nepal descended into political turmoil on Tuesday after Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli resigned, as Gen Z-led demonstrations intensified across Kathmandu and other regions. Protesters stormed government buildings, including Parliament and the Prime Minister’s Office, and set ablaze the private residences of President Ram Chandra Poudel, Oli, and several former premiers. In response to the escalating crisis, the Nepal Army and top security officials jointly appealed for calm, urging dialogue as the only path to restore order. The Army vowed to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, independence, and the lives and property of its citizens while closely monitoring the Gen Z-led movement.
