Angelina Jolie married sensuality with suited styling and minimalism in a Gabriela Hearst trenchcoat dress for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her film “Couture” on Sunday.
The Oscar-winning “Girl, Interrupted” star wore the Houstt double-breasted trenchcoat in chocolate winter silk by the eponymous designer. The look featured a few standout details that set the dress apart from other trenchcoat dresses, including strong shoulders emphasized by a traditional epaulette detail.

Suited styling also came into play with Jolie’s attire. The Gabriela Hearst trenchcoat dress included a double-breasted design with sinuous lapels and a thigh-high slight. Jolie paired the dress with sheer brown nylons and wore a pair of pointed-toe heels, giving the look an overall monochrome effect.
Retailing for $5,730 on Gabriela Hearst’s official website, the style took a feminine approach to the trenchcoat dress. Ashley Olsen recently wore her variation on the style in a design by The Row, the brand she cofounded alongside twin sister Mary-Kate Olsen, at Thursday’s YES Scholars 25th Anniversary Gala.

A wardrobe staple, trenchcoats had a major moment as a street-style trend during Paris Fashion Week in October 2024. A trans-seasonal standard, variations on the style were seen in shades of khaki or olive. With autumnal temperatures and the fall season nearly here, Jolie’s look highlighted the trenchcoat dress’ versatility.
Jolie has a close relationship with Gabriela Hearst. In June 2023, the actress linked up with Hearst as the first collaborator for Jolie‘s apparel brand, Atelier Jolie, through Chloé. Hearst previously served as the creative director of the French fashion label from December 2020 until October 2023, when Chemena Kamali took over.
