Whether it’s fashion, technology or social media, these entertainers are showing they’re more than just show characters.

    While most fans are smitten by their screen charisma, a few stars have managed to expand their talents far beyond any movie set. These celebrities not only have fame, they also build products and start brands that have been doing something for society daily. These Bollywood icons are using their star power to ride the successful journey of entrepreneurship into high-end fashion lines, cutting-edge technology platforms, holistic startups and eco-conscious beauty brands. Here is a list of 8 celebrities who turned entrepreneurs. 

    1. Shah Rukh Khan manages Red Chillies and KKR while also investing in startups

    Shah Rukh Khan has owned and managed Red Chillies Entertainment since 2002 with his wife, Gauri Khan, a popular production house which has given hits like Om Shanti OmChennai ExpressJawan etc. It is a film production and distribution company which also includes VFX and special effects. It is responsible for VFX shown in films like Ra.One, Krrish 3 etc. Shah Rukh Khan also owns an IPL team – Kolkata Knight Riders since 2008. This team is one of the most popular teams of IPL and has won the title thrice (2021, 2014, 2024).

    Apart from this, he has also invested in KidZania (An edutainment theme park chain that offers children hands-on experiences in various professions and real-life scenarios), Meerkat (A social media platform that allows users to live stream videos and interact with viewers in real time) and Numi (A mobile app that offers personalized nutrition advice and meal plans based on individual preferences and health goals).

    2. Deepika Padukone is shaping India’s startup world with KA Enterprises

    Deepika Padukone founded KA enterprises in 2012, a company that focuses on investing money in startups, especially those that create products or provide services to everyday people. They have invested in companies like Furlenco, Blu Smart, Mokobara, etc. She is also the co-founder of 82°E, launched in 2022, a modern Indian self-care brand that is on a mission to make the practice of self-care simple, joyful and effective part of your everyday life. She also launched her clothing brand, All About You in 2015 which is in partnership with Myntra and it focuses on making stylish but easy to wear and comfortable clothes for women. In 2020, Myntra acquired this brand. 

    Apart from this she has also invested in companies like Nua (a women’s wellness brand), Epigamia (a yogurt brand), Super Tails (a pet care startup) and many more.  

    3. Kriti Sanon launches skincare brand Hyphen and starts her own production house

    Kriti Sanon turned an entrepreneur in 2023 when she launched her beauty brand, Hyphen. It is a skincare brand focusing on facial care, offering 100% vegan and cruelty-free products. It also offers a variety of sunscreen, cleansers, moisturizers etc. In 2023, she also launched her production house Blue Butterfly Films, with its first project being the Netflix film, Do Patti

    Apart from this she also owns her clothing line, Ms Taken and also co-founded the fitness company The Tribe. 

    4. Rhea Chakraborty’s Fashion Label, Chapter 2

    Rhea Chakraborty took her first step in entrepreneurship along with her brother, with the launch of her fashion label and podcast both with the same name, Chapter 2. The brand is all about embracing confidence and self-expression. It represents a new chapter in Rhea’s life, a journey of starting over. Chapter 2 aims to empower individuals to embrace their vulnerability and turn it into strength. Along with the fashion, she started her Podcast by the same name, which is a platform for fresh conversations, exploring new beginnings, self-growth and empowerment. Her first guest was the actress Sushmita Sen.

    Recently, in one of the Podcasts, she had invited the luminaries of the Indian retail domain- Ashni Biyani and Kishore Biyani as guests who got interested in the Chapter 2 and they instantly invested 1 crore in the same. 

    5. Shraddha Kapoor steps into the business world with MyGlamm, Palmonas and Shunya

    Shraddha Kapoor started her journey as an entrepreneur by investing in the company, MyGlamm in 2021, a beauty and personal care brand. She is also the brand ambassador of this company. She also co-founded the jewellery company, Palmonas in 2024. The main aim of this company is to provide stylish, long-lasting jewelry at an affordable price for everyday people. 

    Apart from this she has also invested in companies like BellaCasa (a luxury furnishing company) and Shunya (healthy beverage brand). 

    6. Hrithik Roshan promotes fitness and lifestyle through HRX and Cure.fit

    Hrithik Roshan co-founded HRX, a fitness and lifestyle brand in 2013 and is the face of it. The idea of this company was to help youngsters achieve better fitness. He has also invested in Cure.fit, a health and wellness startup that offers various fitness centres, including HRX. Apart from this, he is also associated with a production house FilmsKraft Productions founded by his father Rakesh Roshan in 1977. This production house gave films like Koi Mil Gaya, Kites etc.

    7. Salman Khan expands Being Human from clothing into a full lifestyle movement

    Salman Khan founded Being Human, a casualwear clothing company in 2007. The main vision was to establish a strong position in the clothing market and the company also aims to create a positive impact on people’s lives by contributing to a charitable cause. He also owns a chain of gyms – SK-27, which aims to provide affordable and well equipped facilities and a personal care and grooming brand FRSH, which is a brand of fragrances for men.

    Apart from this, he also has a stake in the travel company Yatra and the short video platform Chingari.

    8. Alia Bhatt turns entrepreneur with Ed-a-Mamma

    Alia Bhatt launched a sustainable maternity and children’s clothing brand, Ed-mama in 2020 which initially focused on kids clothing but later expanded. In 2023, Reliance acquired a major stake in this company. She also founded and launched a production house in 2021, Eternal Sunshine Productions, which made its debut with the OTT film Darlings. Apart from this she has also invested in companies like Nykaa (a beauty platform) and Phool (a biomaterial startup)

    9. Katrina Kaif invests in beauty that cares with Kay Beauty

    Katrina Kaif launched her beauty brand, Kay Beauty in 2019 in collaboration with Nykaa. It is India’s largest Specialty Beauty and Personal Care Platform, Nykaa. Each product is enriched with skin-loving ingredients that have been hand-picked by Katrina and  built on the principle ‘MakeupThatKares’. Kay Beauty products are cruelty free and truly define the premium category through its packaging and finest quality formulations. Apart from this, she also has a stake in Nykaa, the parent company of Kay Beauty. 

    10. Twinkle Khanna redefines success with Tweak India and The White Window

    Twinkle Khanna started the journey by being the owner of The White Window, which has been a source for home decor and furniture in Mumbai. She also runs a candle business. Along with interior designing, she also is a film producer with producing films, like Padman, Tees Maar Khan, Patiala House and more. In 2019, she also set up Tweak India, a new media platform for modern Indian women. It focuses on answering questions about health, wellness, parenting, relationship, career and more. 

    Apart from that, she has written four bestselling novels, Mrs. Funnybones, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, Welcome to Paradise and Pyjamas are Forgiving
