Rukmini Vasanth, actor known for her Kannada film, ‘Sapta Sagardaache Ello’, is gearing up for her upcoming films, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ with Rishab Shetty and ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups’ with Yash. The actor graced the India Today Conclave South 2025, held in Coimbatore on September 8, where she headlined the session – Kantara Chronicles: Myths in Motion.
Speaking at the session, Rukmini Vasanth said, “They are very passionate artistes. They are very creative and wonderful human beings. At such a nascent stage in my career, it’s such a privilege to be working with them. I feel as if I am a sponge and taking in as much as I can while working with these people and seeing their approach to work. Artistes are generally different from each other. But, the sheer passion and commitment to their work is awe-inspiring.”
When asked what she learnt from Yash on the sets of ‘Toxic’, she stated, “An all-encompassing vision of what a movement of a cultural zeitgeist could be. To have such a vision is quite something.”
Rukmini Vasanth will be seen as princess Kanakavathi in Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Talking about her co-star and director Rishabh, she explained, “He has an incredibly grand vision. They recently released a 15-minute video of ‘Kantara’s’ making. You can see the degree to which they worked on ‘Kantara’ and the enormous scale that has been built. It is also rooted and present in the cultural milieu that made the first film more successful. You can have such a monumental vision and still hold on to the essence and that is brilliant.”
While ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is gearing up for a grand release in theatres on October 2 in many languages, Yash’s ‘Toxic’ is expected to hit theatres next year.
