Congress Rahul Gandhi’s vacation to the tourist hotspot Langkawi in Malaysia, amid high-octane campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections, has become a target of ridicule for the BJP.

Quick to take a potshot at the Congress leader for missing in action, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, “Looks like the heat and dust of Bihar’s politics was too much for the Congress Yuvraj, who had to rush off for a break. Or is it another one of those secret meetings that no one is supposed to know about?”

“Either way, while people struggle with real issues, Rahul Gandhi is busy perfecting the art of disappearing and vacationing,” he added, posting a picture of the Congress leader in a white cap and jean shorts, staring at the camera.

Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar concluded on September 1, covering around 1,300 kilometres, 25 districts, and approximately 110 assembly constituencies in just two weeks.

Time and again, the BJP has targeted Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visits, especially during Parliament sessions or amid election campaigns.

During this year’s Budget session, the BJP cornered Rahul Gandhi over his frequent trips to Vietnam and other countries, alleging a lack of public disclosure.

The party pointed out that such undisclosed trips are unbecoming of the Leader of the Opposition and raised concerns about “national security”.

Addressing a press conference, Ravi Shankar Prasad raised concerns over Rahul Gandhi’s “curious” and “extraordinary fondness for Vietnam”, while Amit Malviya claimed it posed serious national security questions.

“As the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a crucial position, and his numerous clandestine trips abroad, especially while Parliament is in session, raise serious questions about propriety and national security,” Amit Malviya wrote on X.
