Popular TV actor Arjun Bijlani, known for his work in shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum and Naagin, recently opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life — one that saw his family’s world turn upside down after a close friend cheated him of his hard-earned savings. In an emotional conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Arjun also talked about the financial crisis his family faced which forced them to start life from scratch.
Arjun Bijlani makes shocking revelation about being cheated; says, “A friend cheated me of Rs. 35 lakhs, we lost everything overnight”
Arjun shared, “Somebody cheated me with very big money. A friend told me that he has to do white-black of some money, and so he took cash from me and just vanished. I lost around Rs 30-35 lakh and I think this was around 2010. I had saved all that money to buy a house.”
But this wasn’t the first setback the actor faced. Recalling the sudden downfall from a comfortable life, Arjun said, “Our financial life was over. From an amazing life, it was a complete 360 turn. We used to live in town and that house… that’s another story, but we had to shift from Mahim. I studied in Bombay Scottish and HR College and suddenly I was in Malad, living in a 1BHK on rent with my mom and brother. Earlier, we would travel in a car and then I was going in train to give auditions. It all happened overnight. We even had to sell our own 2BHK house in town and our car. Everything was just gone.”
The actor recalled how even making his first portfolio was a struggle, “It would cost Rs 8000, so I mortgaged my mom’s gold. Later, I realised more money was needed so I just sold that gold.” Arjun admitted that his biggest priority once he found success was to repay his mother for her sacrifices. “When I started earning, the first thing I did was to take my mom for jewellery shopping.”
Despite the hardships and betrayal, Arjun eventually bought his first house after the success of Miley Jab Hum Tum, marking the beginning of a new chapter. His candid revelations highlight not just his resilience but also the grit behind his rise to becoming one of television’s most loved stars.
