Although he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2020, which significantly impacted his health, the exact cause of his sudden illness was not revealed in public reports. His death came as a shock to fans and the music community due to his active presence on the Happy Together tour through the summer of 2025, where he performed alongside Ron Dante, who had replaced Kaylan.
