United States President Donald Trump announced that he will host the 2026 Group of 20 (G20) summit at his Trump National Doral Miami golf club near Miami.
“I think Doral will be the best location,” Trump told reporters during an Oval Office event, confirming the selection of his own property for the high-profile international gathering.
The G20, which comprises 19 member countries, the European Union, and the African Union, rotates hosting duties among its members. However, no official date for the 2026 summit has yet been confirmed.

The event is expected to generate millions in hotel and restaurant revenue for the club. According to news agency Reuters, a White House official said that Doral would charge attendees “at-cost” for the services provided.
The White House has consistently rejected claims of conflicts, noting that Trump’s business assets are managed by a third party. The president has previously faced scrutiny for blending his personal business ventures with official duties, including hosting foreign leaders and corporate executives at his properties domestically and abroad, such as Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach and golf resorts in New Jersey, Washington, and Scotland.
This comes as Trump is set to skip this year’s G20 event in South Africa. Vice President JD Vance is set to attend this year’s summit in South Africa, Trump added.
Trump had proposed hosting the 2020 Group of Seven (G7) summit at Doral during his first term, but the plan drew criticism from Democrats, Republicans, who argued it could violate the US Constitution. The president ultimately abandoned the idea.
Since entering office in January, Trump has largely dismissed concerns regarding mix of his business and policy decisions. His business portfolio includes real estate, licensing deals, and ventures in meme coins and crypto tokens, which have reportedly added hundreds of millions of dollars in paper wealth over a short period.
Trump National Doral Miami is a sprawling property that includes a clubhouse, pool, restaurants, spa, and roughly 100,000 square feet (9,300 square metres) of event space. The facility features the Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom, making it well-suited for large-scale international conferences, according to the club’s official website.
Prior to Trump’s announcement, the US State Department had invited proposals from American cities interested in hosting the 2026 G20 summit, estimating the meetings would take place in early-to-mid October. It is unclear whether Doral or nearby Miami submitted formal bids.
