Filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently opened up about his experience working with Ranbir Kapoor on his debut, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. In a conversation with Komal Nahta, Boney praised Ranbir’s professionalism, patience, and respect for the crew during the shoot.
Boney Kapoor REVEALS Ranbir Kapoor gave 52 retakes on Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar without complaining: “He was a pleasure on the set”
Recalling a particularly challenging schedule in Delhi during the summer, Boney said, “Ranbir Kapoor is one actor I never saw cribbing on the set. We shot for 16 hours at a stretch. To avoid the heat, we switched the schedule to shoot at night, from 9 PM to 6 AM. He didn’t complain even for a second.”
The filmmaker was especially impressed by Ranbir’s commitment to perfection. He revealed, “I remember he gave 52 retakes for a scene. He gave full respect to the crew, despite having to repeat the scene multiple times. In fact, when I gave 13–14 retakes for a shot, I was a little flustered. He came to me and said, ‘Till the director is not satisfied, you’ve got to give it all.’ His patience… he was a pleasure on the set.”
This comes a few days after RK’s Animal co-star Saurabh Sachdeva also lauded him. In a chat with Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa on their You tube podcast, Saurabh recalled, “It was very amazing. He is a curious human being. He wants to know everything about you. He just sits on the side and starts talking. He spoke to me a lot about my technique and I told him about my mask work. He said that he also wanted to do it. I told him that we will do. It was fun. Curiosity is the best friend of an artiste.”
Speaking of the professional front, Ranbir has an exciting line up with multiple films in his pipeline, including Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War.
