The White Lotus has become one of the most loved dark comedy-drama series over the years. The series, which premiered in 2021, follows the exploitation of guests and staff during their stay at a fictional high-end resort, ‘The White Lotus’. The first season was filmed and set in Hawaii, the second in Sicily, and the third in Thailand. And now, the makers have announced the location for their fourth season.
The White Lotus will be heading to France for Season 4
According to recent reports, the fourth season of HBO’s hit murder mystery comedy drama will be heading to France for the upcoming instalment. The White Lotus has been making headlines since its release in 2021, and now, with intrigue around the upcoming season, a source has revealed to Deadline that the show will be heading to France. However, the reps for HBO have refused to address the comment for now.
For the first three seasons, HBO has had a marketing partnership with the Four Seasons hotel chain, which also serves as the setting for the White Lotus hotels. However, there are speculations that the show’s makers are focusing on the famous Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, located on the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula on the French Riviera, which has strong Hollywood ties due to its proximity to Cannes.
Nonetheless, the source has also revealed that no hotel has been locked so far, noting that the show often uses multiple resorts in one season. The same was seen in the making of Season 3, which was shot in several Thailand-based resorts, with the main setting being the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, along with three other non-Four Seasons hotels. It remains unclear whether a French Four Seasons resort will be the primary location of Season 4.
Reports have also revealed that two other Four Seasons hotels in France are the Megeve in the French Alps and Hotel George V, located in the heart of Paris. However, it is also worth considering that Cap-Ferrat is the closest to the settings of the first three seasons of The White Lotus, which took place at luxury resorts by the beach. The show’s creator, Mike White, has previously shared:
“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular, but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”
Megeve could provide a change of scenery. It may be too drastic a change, especially if production begins before May 2026, which is a possibility, given that the location is a popular ski resort during the winter. The White Lotus cast had previously revealed that Mike dislikes the cold and has given mixed suggestions about ski resort locations. As for Paris, the city of love could be a dramatic change to the show’s urban environment.
Mike White had delayed the search for The White Lotus Season 4 location
Mike White and HBO executives were originally scheduled to scout locations in early spring 2025. However, the trip was pushed to summer 2025, as Mike needed a little breather after completing The White Lotus Season 3.
