Steve Gunn just released a new album, the instrumental Music for Writers, and he’s already getting ready to release another. Daylight Daylight is out November 7, via No Quarter, and it’s considered a more proper follow-up to 2021’s Other You. Below, listen to the new album’s first song, “Nearly There.”
Gunn worked on Daylight Daylight with longtime collaborator James Elkington. According to a press release, Gunn recorded solo demos and sent them to Elkington, instructing the producer to do whatever he pleased with the arrangements. Featured on the album are violinist and violist Macie Stewart, cellist Ben Whiteley, upright bassist Nick Macri, and woodwinds player Hunter Diamond.
