Suniel Shetty’s son and actor Ahan Shetty, who made his Bollywood debut with Tadap in 2021. In a recent conversation with Lifestyle Asia India reported by News 18, he shared his candid thoughts about the nepotism debate and the dual nature of privilege and pressure that comes with being a star kid.
Ahan Shetty opens up about nepotism and proving himself in Bollywood: ‘Expectations are higher and every stumble is magnified’
Discussing his family background, Ahan acknowledged the advantages that come with his name. He said, “I’ll never deny where I come from; being my father’s son gives me access and opportunities. But that also means expectations are higher and every stumble is magnified.” He added, “I know that every success of mine reflects on the name he’s built, and every failure carries extra weight. I try to use both as fuel to work harder, to prove that I’m not just here because of my last name.”
Reflecting on how he views his father’s legacy not as a burden but as motivation Ahan said, “It feels heavy sometimes because his name carries great respect. But I don’t see it as a burden. I’ve learned to stop taking that pressure and start seeing it as guidance. His past is something I can learn from, not something that weighs me down.”
Looking ahead, Ahan is preparing for his next film, Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, scheduled for release on January 22, 2026. He is also set to take on a new horror project written by Patrick Graham, creator of Netflix’s Ghoul and Betaal.
