Around 700 members of the Indian diaspora gathered in central Munich on Saturday to peacefully protest against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives on April 22.

The protest, held under tight security, began at the historic Geschwister-Scholl-Platz near LMU and concluded at Mnchner Freiheit, sending a strong message of solidarity with the victims and their families.

The protest drew support from prominent German political figures, including Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Hans Theiss and Munich City Councillor Delija Balidemaj, who stood alongside demonstrators to condemn terrorism and support international peace efforts.

The Munich rally is the latest in a wave of global protests by Indian communities outraged by the Pahalgam attack. In recent days, Indian diaspora groups across Europe have organised similar demonstrations, voicing their concerns and expressing unity with those affected by the violence.

On May 3, more than 100 protesters assembled at Piazza Fontana near Duomo in Milan. Participants included members of the Sikh, Christian, Tamil, and Malayali communities, as well as Indian students. The crowd condemned the attack and called for global attention to the threat of terrorism in the Kashmir region.

A day earlier in Berlin, demonstrators marched past several iconic landmarks, including the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Dom, and Humboldt Forum, in a large-scale protest that drew the attention of passersby and tourists.

Earlier, in London, members of the Indian community had gathered outside the Indian High Commission in a show of support. The protest coincided with a counter-demonstration led by pro-Khalistani and Pakistani groups.
