In the wake of the deadly terrorist strike in Pahalgan in Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian technical team has arrived in New York to engage with the United Nations Security Council’s 1267 Sanctions Committee, seeking global action against The Resistance Front (TRF).

The TRF, which has claimed responsibility for the April 22 attack that killed 26 people, is widely recognized as a shadow outfit of LeT — a group already sanctioned by the UN.

The Indian delegation is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with the Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee on Wednesday. According to diplomatic sources, the team is also meeting officials from the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED).

The 1267 ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida Committee oversees the sanctions measures imposed by the Security Council.

India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, striking terror factories at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. TRF had claimed responsibility for the attack.
