Even a few seconds of footage can change everyone’s reputation overnight. Just weeks after Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron made headlines for his public ‘kiss cam’ scandal at a Coldplay concert, and now other corporate families are under intense scrutiny. This time, the spotlight is on Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek after he was caught on camera snatching a signed tennis cap meant for a child at the 2025 US Open.
A video of his act went viral, sparking global outrage, and Anna has also been dragged into the matter. Amid the chaos, here’s everything you must know about her.
Who is Piotr Szczerek’s wife, Anna Szczerek?
Anna Szczerek, also known as Anna Mocna-Szczerek, is more than just the wife of a millionaire CEO. She is a Polish entrepreneur, philanthropist, and avid tennis enthusiast. Along with her husband, Piotr, she co-founded Drogbruk in 1999, a paving and landscaping company. The firm is also known to sponsor sporting events and support youth athletes in Poland. Beyond business, Anna has carved her own path as a dedicated tennis player.
Anna has competed in the women’s league and even in the 4th KTT league, where she has faced male opponents in doubles matches alongside partner Ewa Pawlak. In an interview with Tenis Magazyn, Anna recalled discovering tennis as a teenager in Canada and later introducing the sport to her husband. Today, the couple regularly competes in mixed doubles. Their two young sons, aged eight and six, are also pursuing tennis seriously. It is something Anna has described as a source of pride because of the discipline and character it instils. Sharing how Tennis is an important part of their life, she said:
“Piotr has already surpassed me in tennis. But we train just as hard because it brings us so much joy. Especially since we’ve managed to instil this passion in our children. We’re happy with their tennis passion because the sport builds character and teaches order and consistency.”
What happened at the US Open?
The controversy took place after a high-stakes match where Polish player, Kamil Majchrzak, defeated Russia’s Karen Khachanov. After the win, Kamil walked to the stands to greet fans and offered a signed cap to a young boy, identified as Brok. But before the child could receive it, Piotr Szczerek quickly snatched the cap and slipped it into his wife Anna’s handbag. Anna, appearing distracted by her phone, did not intervene and took it. However, the video went viral online and drew criticism for the couple.

Social media users identified Piotr and Anna’s social media handles and posted negative comments. Adding fuel to the controversy, a fabricated post began circulating online, falsely attributed to Anna. The post mocked critics and suggested that the boy had received a ‘life lesson’ from the incident. Although it was soon revealed to be fake, the damage was already done and raising questions about her role in the viral moment. As per the fake post, Anna said:
“You poor people, you shouldn’t really have access to the Internet – you can’t use this tool correctly. Unfortunately, Polish mental poverty, together with straw in shoes, gives the result that we all see. If we take into account the circumstances of this pseudo-scared, this kid simply got a pro bono life lesson. Let him be happy. Greetings.”
