Reliance Jio is stepping into the world of smart eyewear with the launch of Jio Frames, a new pair of AI-powered glasses unveiled at the company’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM). The product marks Reliance’s entry into a space dominated by players like Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, but with a distinctly Indian twist.

Introducing the device at the AGM, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, described Jio Frames as “an AI-powered wearable platform, an ecosystem made for India with support for multiple Indian languages.” He added, “It is a hands-free, AI-powered companion designed for the way India lives, works and plays.”

Reliance has positioned Jio Frames as much more than just a gadget, it’s being pitched as a lifestyle tool tailored for Indian consumers. From offering travel information on the go to providing cooking tips in your kitchen, the glasses are designed to bring AI closer to everyday situations. With Jio Frames, Reliance is aiming to push AI “right in front of your eyes, beyond smartphones.”

By leaning on its own Jio AI ecosystem, the company hopes to make Jio Frames an extension of its broader digital services. With cloud storage, voice assistance, and seamless integration, the device is a clear attempt to place Jio at the centre of how Indians use AI in daily life.

Reliance Jio Frames: Features and specs

At its core, Jio Frames is a personal assistant disguised as glasses that you can wear every day. The glasses can capture HD photos, record videos, and even go live on social media, all without needing to reach for a smartphone. Every image and video is automatically backed up to the Jio AI Cloud, so users never have to worry about storage.

Now comes the desi-touch. The device is also claimed to be multilingual, thanks to Jio’s built-in AI voice assistant that supports several Indian languages. That means the glasses will understand, no matter if you speak Hindi, Tamil or Bengali.

Adding on to the list of features, Jio Frames is pitched as a true hands-free companion for everyday life. For instance, it can guide you through a recipe step by step while cooking, or ask for a quick summary of a book you’re reading. Reliance shares that these glasses are built on Jio’s AI model to provide instant, task-specific help.

The glasses also come with open-ear speakers discreetly built into the frame. These let users take calls, attend meetings, listen to music, or catch up on podcasts, all while staying aware of their surroundings. Unlike traditional earphones, you don’t have to plug your ears, making the experience more natural and safe, particularly when on the move.

While pricing and availability details remain under wraps, the launch signals Reliance’s ambition to make AI wearables mainstream in India, and possibly take on global rivals in the process.
