Popular Bollywood producer, Boney Kapoor hails from a family with filmy background. He is the son of Surinder Kapoor, who was a producer in the Hindi cinema. His brothers, Anil and Sanjay Kapoor are actors. In 1983, Boney got married to Mona Shourie, who also produced shows and films. Mona was just 19 when she married Boney.
Soon after their marriage, Boney and Mona welcomed their kids, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. However, Mona’s world turned upside down when her husband fell in love with Sridevi while being married to her. Boney never hid his love for Sridevi from his wife, but his growing closeness with Sridevi shattered Mona’s marital bliss. After 13 years of marriage, Boney and Mona parted ways, and he married Sridevi.

A rare throwback picture of Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie Kapoor surfaced on social media. The picture in question is from the time of their marriage. Boney, who looked dapper in a black suit, was seen posing with Mona, who looked gorgeous in a marigold-coloured silk lehenga, with a cream-coloured veil atop her head. The newlyweds were accompanied by Mona’s mother, Sattee Shourie and actress, Zeenat Aman.
Sridevi used to tie ‘rakhi’ to Boney Kapoor
Boney Kapoor met Sridevi when he went to cast her for Mr. India. It is reported that Sridevi became friends with Boney’s first wife, Mona Kapoor, and even used to stay at their house. As per multiple reports, Sridevi used to consider Boney as her brother as she had tied him rakhi. However, when Sridevi broke up with Mithun, Boney became her emotional strength. However, things turned ugly when Boney and Sridevi became involved romantically.
Sridevi became pregnant with Boney Kapoor’s child
As the two continued their affair, Sridevi became pregnant with Boney’s child, and the news of her pregnancy shattered Mona. When the news spread like wildfire, Sridevi was tagged as a home wrecker and was even accused by Boney’s family. In a throwback interview with DNA, Mona once shared how it became impossible for her to save her marriage. In her words:
“He (Boney) was 10 years older to me. I was 19 when I married him. So I literally grew up with him. Ours was a 13-year-old marriage. So it came as a shock when I realised that my husband was in love with somebody else… There was nothing left in the relationship to give it a chance because Sridevi was already with a child.”

Boney Kapoor was so smitten by Sridevi that he couldn’t help but fall in love with her. He even confessed about his feelings to his ex-wife, Mona Shourie. At the India Today Woman Summit 2013, Boney Kapoor opened up the time when he told his ex-wife, Mona that he had fallen in love with Sridevi. Talking about the same, Boney shared:
“I was married then. I in fact had to confess to my ex-wife that I could not hold back. I tried to make Sridevi feel that there is someone who is concerned for her. I wanted to get into her system that I was there for her.”
Mona suffered a lot after Boney’s betrayal, however, she raised her children Arjun and Anshula with all the love. In March 2012, Mona passed away due to multiple organ failure after battling cancer. On the other hand, Sridevi died a tragic death in 2018 after an accidental drowning.
