Lil Nas X Gives First Statement Since Arrest: “That Was Terrifying”

Lil Nas X has issued his first statement since getting out of jail following his arrest last week, a day after he was released after pleading not guilty to four felony charges after being seen on video roaming through Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, seemingly delirious.

“Your girl is gonna be ok, ya’ll,” the rapper said on an Instagram story Tuesday. “She’s going to be alright. Shit, that was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”

The rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, was first caught on video last week walking down Ventura in the early hours of the morning, wearing nothing but underwear and a pair of boots. He allegedly charged at police, and he was hospitalized on officers’ suspicion of a drug overdose before being transferred to Valley Jail in Van Nuys. He remained in jail through the weekend, and Hill was officially charged on four felony counts, including battery and resisting a law enforcement, on Monday.

Hill’s bail was set at $75,000. During his arraignment on Monday, Hill’s legal team emphasized that the rapper has no criminal history, nor a history of violence, and said it was too early to determine drugs had played a part in the incident. The judge overseeing his arraignment ordered Hill to sign up for a drug treatment program.

“He’s never been in trouble for a split second in his existence, we’re not going to let one little event change the trajectory of his amazing life,” Hill’s defense attorney Drew Findling told reporters after the arraignment Monday. “There’s no way to have a sense of what happened this immediately, but we’re going to look into it and do the right thing.”

Hill’s father briefly spoke with reporters after the arraignment as well, saying his son was ““doing great mentally” after the arrest.

“We said shed tears, we shed laughter, but he’s in great spirits,” Stafford said Monday, speaking of his first conversation with Hill after the arrest. “God is good all the time. Keep him in your prayers.”
