The trailer for the upcoming reality TV series ‘Rise and Fall’ was released on Monday. Hosted by entrepreneur Ashneer Grover, the show will feature 16 celebrity contestants from various backgrounds. Notable participants include actor Arjun Bijlani, Dhanashree Verma, ex-wife of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, actor Kubbra Sait and comedian Kiku Sharda.
The one-minute 17-second video hints that the contestants will be divided into two starkly contrasting groups: the Rulers and the Workers. While the rulers enjoy the opulence of a lavish penthouse, the workers strive in a bare-basics basement. The narrative revolves around the struggle of workers to replace the rulers and ascend their way to the top.
The promo featured the contestants planning and plotting to either safeguard their position in the game or try to upgrade. However, the plot twist came with Dhanashree taking an indirect dig at her ex-husband, Yuzvendra Chahal. She can be heard saying, “Trust toh mera bahut pehle hi toott chuka tha (My trust was broken a long time ago)”.
Ashneer Grover, who will make his debut as a host, shared his enthusiasm for the show. Grover said, “‘Rise & Fall’ is amongst the most captivating reality show concepts worldwide. Being a follower of reality shows, I think the division of contestants into haves and have-nots brings a new dimension to reality shows in India.”
“What excites me the most is the show’s unpredictability, where power flips in seconds and no one can guess who’ll be on top tomorrow. The clashes, the hustle, and the drama make it unmissable. Hosting this show is like sitting front row to the biggest power game India has ever seen, and trust me, viewers are not ready for what’s coming,” he added.
Arjun Bijlani said, “I’ve hosted, I’ve acted, but nothing prepares you for a show like this. It is a completely new ballgame. Rise & Fall is raw and real – there’s no hiding behind a character. Every choice you make can push you to the penthouse or drop you to the basement. That unpredictability is what hooked me.”
Dhanashree Verma noted the significant contrasts between the Rulers and the Workers. She said, “The contrast between the rulers and workers is so striking. As someone who’s built her journey step by step, I connected instantly with the hustler spirit. This show challenges you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Kiku Sharda, primarily known for his comedic roles, shared a different perspective. “People usually see me making them laugh, but here, laughter comes with strategy, survival, and sometimes even tears. ‘Rise & Fall’ is tough. You have to outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let’s see if I survive here without losing my humour. I’d count that as a win,” he said.
‘Rise and Fall’ will begin streaming on Amazon MX Player from September 6.
