Famine has struck an area of Gaza and the situation is likely to escalate in the next month, according to a global hunger report. This assessment is expected to increase pressure on Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into the war-torn Palestinian enclave.
According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification system, 5,14,000 people, which comprises nearly a quarter of Palestinians in Gaza, are experiencing famine and it is expected to rise to 6,41,000 by the end of September.
