One of Nike’s most classic sneakers is getting retrofitted for wet weather with the upcoming release of a Gore-Tex-equipped version of the Dunk Low.
Said to be one of many upcoming Nike Dunk Low Gore-Tex variations, a new two-tone “Light Crimson/Total Crimson” style of the 1980s retro basketball sneaker has surfaced on social media. Images of the unreleased pair were shared by Nike SB collector @sbheadsbe on Instagram and while the upcoming style isn’t part of Nike’s skateboarding range, it instead uses the standard Dunk Low silhouette, albeit with a handful of noteworthy changes.
The upper of the Nike Dunk Low Gore-Tex, or GTX for short, has been retooled with a waterproof membrane, but the changes aren’t strictly internal. A close look at the sneaker’s finer points reveal that the shoe’s toe box perforations have been filled in, while its gray Swoosh logo has been given a molded three-dimensional appearance.
The sneaker’s tongue appears a bit puffier than normal Dunk Lows, with padding reminiscent of what would be seen on an SB Dunk variation. Gore-Tex branding is featured on a woven tag attached to the Swoosh, and it’s also imprinted at the toe to drive the partnership home. Even the Dunk Low’s rubber outsole has been updated with a new traction pattern.

While this new-look Dunk Low GTX will likely be a welcome addition to Nike’s holiday 2025 releases, it’s not the first time that the waterproof Gore-Tex membrane has been featured on the iconic Dunk model. One of the most coveted examples is 2008’s collaboration with Japanese collectible manufacturer Medicom Toy which featured a Neutral Gray-colored upper.
Beyond this upcoming Dunk Low style, Nike regularly features Gore-Tex in both its lifestyle and performance footwear. The two companies have had a longtime partnership which extends into other categories including Jordan Brand and apparel.
The Nike Dunk Low GTX “Light Crimson/Total Crimson” style pictured here is expected to be released during the holiday ’25 season, which should amount to an arrival sometime around mid-November. The colorway pictured here has a sku of HQ2053-800 and an expected retail price of $150.
