The Telangana government is preparing to introduce a comprehensive Night Time Economy (NTE) policy in Hyderabad, with a formal rollout expected in the coming months. Officials have already begun surveying key areas of the city to implement the initiative, which aims to boost Hyderabad’s economy and position it alongside global cities such as London, New York and Berlin.
Speaking to India Today TV, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said the policy will provide night-specific governance and smart regulation, which will be crucial for the city’s growth. “Night Time Economy is one of the many projects which will further the growth of Hyderabad to a global city. Night-specific governance and smart regulation will be key to the development of Hyderabad,” he said.
Ranjan added that Hyderabad’s nightlife will be safe and inclusive, with improved policing during night hours and targeted measures to make entertainment areas accessible and secure for women.
The plan also includes collaboration with ride-hailing platforms such as Uber and Ola, introducing special geo-tagged pickup and drop points within designated night zones. The NTE is expected to further expand economic activity beyond traditional business hours.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to make a formal announcement regarding the new policy soon. Authorities believe the initiative will transform Hyderabad into a hub for vibrant nightlife while creating new opportunities in the hospitality, retail, entertainment, and mobility sectors, providing a strong boost to the city’s economy.
