When Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers first met, their love story seemed like straight out of a Hollywood fairytale. The actress was already a popular name through films and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She met Aaron in 2017. They developed a connection, and after he completed his divorce from Nicollette Sheridan, they began dating.
After a few weeks, the couple was engaged and married within 48 hours in Malibu, which was seen by fans in the show. But after years of togetherness, cracks emerged, and they filed for divorce. Amid the messy divorce, Denise has recently shared a video where she broke down talking about it.
Denise Richards makes a teary-eyed confession about her divorce
Denise Richards, who has largely remained quiet since Aaron filed for divorce in July 2025, finally broke her silence in a heartfelt Instagram video posted on August 21, 2025. The 54-year-old looked teary-eyed as she described just how painful the process has been. She explained that while she had been putting on a brave face online, she could no longer pretend that “everything was fine.” Instead, she thanked her fans for their kindness and support. Giving an update on her life, she said:
“I’m going to pretend like it’s all good. I’ve acually been posting on Instagram like nothing is going on in my life, and I can’t do that anymore because there’s something obviously going on. I see all of your messages. I can’t comment because it’ll be taken out and put in the press, but I just wanted to, in all seriousness, say that this has been a very, very, very difficult time. It’s so hard to go through a divorce.”
Denise acknowledged that this is her second divorce, hinting at her 2006 split from Charlie Sheen. While she didn’t go into detail about the situation, she admitted that “there are things difficult to talk about” and promised to share more when the time felt right. The actress admitted she felt like crying but expressed her gratitude for the heaps of encouragement she’s received. In her words:
“Many of you have gone through that. This isn’t my first one – this is my second one. I never thought I’d get divorced again. This is why I always say never say never.”

Irrespective of the legal confession by Denise, their legal battle has been anything but quiet. Since filing for divorce, both Denise and Aaron have exchanged bitter accusations. She alleged that he had physically abused her and got a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband. Aaron denied the claims and made his accusations, alleging infidelity and claiming that the actress struggled with substance issues. She even asked him and his family to vacate her Calabasas property, and accused them of ‘severely damaging’ it.

At the heart of the divorce, however, is Denise’s youngest daughter, Eloise. Aaron has claimed he signed adoption papers after raising Eloise as his own for nine years. But he found out that they were never filed. The revelation has left him legally disconnected from the child he calls his daughter ‘by bond’. It has sparked further heartbreak amid the split. While for Denise, who wants to protect her children, this new twist has added yet another layer of difficulty in an already challenging battle.
