Washington, DC, continues to resemble an occupied zone as President Donald Trump expands his law-enforcement crackdown. Military vehicles line the streets, National Guard troops monitor metro stations, and soldiers keep watch as fans head to Nationals Park.

The federal show of force has drawn backlash from residents. Families opposed to the takeover bang pots and pans outside their homes, while protesters near Union Station carry signs condemning the declaration of a public safety emergency as a “manufactured crisis.”
