Aditya Kumar, a young IPS officer from Uttarakhand, has created history by becoming the first Crorepati of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17. Within just two weeks of the season’s premiere, he won ?1 crore, impressing both the audience and host Amitabh Bachchan with his knowledge, calm approach, and determination.

Currently serving as an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Sangrur, Punjab, Aditya relied on his preparation and intuition while answering questions on the hot seat. He barely touched his lifelines and even showed the courage to attempt the Rs 7 crore jackpot question, earning praise from Amitabh Bachchan for his grit and confidence.

    STRUGGLES BEFORE SUCCESS

Aditya’s journey to this point has been anything but easy. Born in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, he decided soon after Class 12 that he wanted a government job. He began preparing and filling out forms for every recruitment exam he came across.

Reports suggest that he faced over 30 failed attempts in exams such as AIEEE, KVS, and various banking recruitments before finally breaking through with the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

His early attempts at UPSC were also full of setbacks. He could not clear the prelims in his first try, reached the interview stage in his second attempt but fell short, and stumbled again in his third attempt.

Refusing to give up, Aditya persisted, and in 2017, his efforts bore fruit. He secured the 630th rank in the 2018 UPSC results, officially beginning his career in the Indian Police Service.

    SYMBOL OF PERSERVERANCE

Leaving his village in 2013 to move to Delhi for UPSC preparation, Aditya endured years of struggle before achieving success. Today, his journey from repeated failures to the UPSC, and now to the KBC stage, stands as a powerful reminder that perseverance and resilience can change lives.

His story is not just about winning a crore on television but about proving that determination can overcome repeated setbacks, inspiring aspirants across the country to keep going, no matter how many times they stumble.
