Only in Mumbai do traffic jams and rain showers come with a soundtrack. A video of an auto rickshaw driver singing Kishore Kumar’s timeless track Chookar Mere Man Ko has gone viral on social media.
The clip, recorded by a passenger travelling in an Uber cab, shows Satyawan Gite, the auto driver, seated in his rickshaw by the roadside, unfazed by the pouring rain as he sings the soulful melody.
The video was shared on Instagram by Sweeny Dias, who quipped, “Only in Mumbai you book a ride and get a live gig.”
Satyawan is no stranger to internet fame. He has previously made headlines with impromptu karaoke sessions during traffic jams, which earned him huge praise online.
Dias, clarifying why the audio in the viral video sounded faint, added with humour, “Guys thank you for the love. Clarifying that the OG audio got washed away with the monsoon (too much noise) but his energy? Was still waterproof. His love for music, even on a rainy ride, was all that mattered.”

Social media users couldn’t get enough of Satyawan’s performance. “His voice is exactly like the original,” said a user, while another added, “People with pure hearts can come up with such ideas.”
“Mumbai has pure-hearted people. In such times, this gives a little sukoon. Thank you, Dada,” one of the users said.
