Lifetime is cutting back its unscripted programming division, a decision that resulted in layoffs on Wednesday.

Aside from Brie Miranda Bryant, senior vp unscripted development and programming at the cable network, the rest of the small unscripted team was let go. The layoffs at the A+E Networks-owned channel include Nicole Vogel, vp programming and development.

Going forward, Lifetime will focus more on its original movie business — although the network still has a number of unscripted titles airing and set to premiere in the coming months. The highest-profile of those is The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, a series following the reality TV family during and after the time when their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were pardoned by President Donald Trump for their 2022 convictions on bank fraud and tax evasion charges. It premieres Sept. 1.

Lifetime also recently debuted A Sorority Mom’s Guide to Rush and last week greenlit a second season of docuseries Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out. The network has also dealt with the loss of its flagship unscripted show, Married at First Sight, this year, after more than a decade and 200-plus episodes on Lifetime (it previously aired on other A+E Networks channels). The show’s 18th season, which concluded in March, was its last on Lifetime. It’s slated to relaunch on Peacock later this year.

    Deadline first reported the news.
