Dhanashree Verma got separated from her husband and Indian spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, after being married for five years. For both of them, there was a lot of emotional and mental pain to end the chapter of togetherness after years. Dhanashree shared that her separation had a profound impact on her, but it was her parents who advised her to opt for separation when things did not sail smoothly between her and Yuzvendra.

In 2025, Yuzi appeared at the Bandra Family Court, wearing a ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy’ tee during the final hearing of his divorce from Dhanashree. The separation not just affected the ex-pair but even Dhanashree’s parents felt the pain. The actress, and choreographer, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, revealed how her parents encouraged her to put an end to the most painful chapter of her life, for the last five years. She shared:
“To even take that decision requires a lot of courage. Knowing that you are with someone who is more powerful than you, to even come to that decision of leaving that partnership requires a lot of courage, and my parents reminded me of that every day. They kept telling me how proud they are that I made this decision. It’s not easy.”

Dhanashree is always grateful to her parents, who were her fall of support and gave her strength when she opted for separation. They reminded her daily that walking out of the marriage was the wisest decision she could ever make. They were very proud of the choice she had made related to her life. She revealed that for the sake of her family members, she had to be strong as the decision of divorce was very confusing for her. She shared that her parents were deeply affected and spoke about handling trolling until a certain point. In her words:
“I had to stay strong to make my parents feel better. We belong to this generation, so we know not to pay attention to negative comments, but how do you explain that to your parents? My parents’ friends would call them, ‘Yeh kya ho gaya?’ It was a delicate situation because I also needed strength and so did my parents.”
Dhanashree shared that her parents had to deal with societal pressure, and the situation at home was overwhelming for her. She revealed that there were days when her mom would break down, and her parents would not take phone calls because of the constant ringing. The feeling was overwhelming, and there was enough pressure from society. Dhanashree revealed she had to deal with something of this sort, and they did not know the process to fix the same. She revealed that she told her parents strictly not to take calls.

Dhanashree believes in being silent, focusing on her work and healing one day at a time. Despite being trolled online, she shared that she had consciously chosen silence and that she has not healed, but is working on it. Addressing rumours related to her fake marriage and alimony allegations, she said:
“Silence is not easy, it takes a lot of a person to just stay silent. There is a reason why we say ‘personal life’. It has to be private. And look, a coin has two sides. Taali ek haath se to bajti nahi.”
