Adidas is introducing a new hybrid sneaker that combines two of the biggest shoe trends of the year.

The Adidas F50 Taekwondo combines its low-profile martial arts slip-on with the F50.6 Tunit, a soccer cleat (or football boot) originally released in 2006. A super-thin sole unit is all to be seen from the Taekwondo, and the glossy upper is pulled over more overtly from the 2000s on-pitch model.

Arriving in at least three colorways — blue and white; yellow and blue, and purple and green — the AdiHex synthetic upper features a high degree of shine and a grid-like pattern. The Three Stripes motif sweeps through midfoot and into a smoke-like graphic on the lateral toe. On the fold-over tongue, you’ll find the retro Adidas Soccer logo.

Following the success of the Samba and Gazelle, Adidas has turned its attention to more recent history to cater to the growing soccer trend in sneakers. The Predator Megaride, a new model borrowing from another 2000s cleat and adding Megaride cushioning, made its debut this spring and was included in a massive Kith collaboration with other soccer sneakers and cleats.

Further down the road, a proper F50 cleat with a TPU shroud enabling everyday wear is expected to release in 2026 while catering to the #BootsOnlySummer TikTok trend.

Nike has also found a hit for the sport with the relaunch of the Total 90 3, also a 2000s soccer cleat, as an out-and-out sneaker this year.

Adidas’ Taekwondo, which was revived in 2024, brings a martial arts influence to the flat sneaker trend — but it’s also dipped into the ballet aesthetic through Bad Bunny’s Ballerina collaboration, which transforms the sneaker with dance-inspired flourishes.

The “Tunit” F50.6 Tunit referred to its new stud system allowing for adjustments catered a variety of surfaces. Various different uppers released as well, including ClimaCool editions for heat and different chassis.

The Adidas F50 Taekwondo is expected to release this spring through Adidas’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
