A woman from Rajasthan, dressed in a saree and covering her head with a ghunghat, danced to Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie in a video that delighted the internet, so much so that even global icon Priyanka Chopra liked it.
The clip, shared on Instagram by Jodhpur-based Kanchan Agrawat, has clocked more than 3.8 million views.
It opens with her nailing Shakira’s signature hook steps from the 2006 global hit, before she blends in her own steps – all while gracefully balancing her saree and ghunghat.

Social media users were all for her performance. “Respect, the way she dances and covers herself, hats off rani,” said a user, while another added, “Madam, along with dancing, the way you carry your pallu is impressive. Hats off.”
Several users admitted they were more drawn to her attire than the dance itself. “The entire performance, I just concentrated on how perfectly and gracefully she was handling her saree,” said one.
Another commented, “I am watching this reel after a tiring day, and this made me feel so happy. Watched so many times already.”
For a few, it was refreshing content in a crowded space. “First time to see good dance on Instagram,” one of the users said.
