It was predicted in this column that the Hindi version of War 2 will open in Rs. 35-40 crores. After all, War 2 had taken a huge opening on its Gandhi Jayanti release back in 2019 with Rs. 53.35 crores coming its way. Now even if Thursday was a regular working day, the ticket prices were set as much higher. Also, evening and night shows were ought to be better due to long weekend factor. Moreover, the hype was immense too and all eyes were on this Hrithik Roshan and NTR starter to justify its tag of being an event film.

As a matter of fact, at the bare minimum one was looking at Rs. 50 crores opening day but looking at advance booking trending, the expectations were brought down to Rs. 35-Rs. 40 crores. That has ensured another Rs. 23 crores to have come in. If one combines that with the Hindi version, the total stands at Rs. 51 crores. Today being Independence Day holiday, one looks for the kind of growth that comes in, though mixed reports means that the numbers won’t rise dramatically.
