The Mountain Goats are reissuing their beloved 2005 album, The Sunset Tree, for its 20th anniversary. The newly remastered edition is out October 17 via 4AD. The album houses “This Year,” long considered the band’s most popular song until “No Children” saw a surge in popularity via TikTok. Revisit the music video for “This Year” below.

John Darnielle made The Sunset Tree with producer John Vanderslice and a band featuring bassist Peter Hughes, pianist Franklin Bruno, cellist Erik Friedlander, drummer Alex DeCarville, and keyboardist Scott Solter. The new edition was remastered at Abbey Road Studios.

Beginning next month, the Mountain Goats will head back on tour as they support their latest album, 2023’s Jenny From Thebes. See the band’s schedule below.
