It has almost been a week since the unfortunate demise broke the Blackstock family. It was on August 13, 2025 (IST), when Reba McEntire reflected on the loss of her oldest son and shared a heartfelt post on Instagram. The country singer took to her social media handle with a series of pictures which showcased her and Brandon in different phases of their lives. Along with the pictures, she penned a heartfelt note addressing the passing of her stepson, Brandon. The singer added how he was now in the presence of the almighty and stated:
“Last week, my stepson/oldest son, Brandon Blackstock, went home to be with God. His struggle is over, and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence. There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together.”
The beautiful pictures of Reba and Brandon were truly heartwarming. They could be seen smiling, enjoying each other’s company. While some pictures showed them all glammed up, others featured the duo fishing or petting a chicken. They were a true testament to the close bond the duo shared. The singer in the note shared how Brandon’s legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. She was quoted as saying:
“His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace, cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”
What happened to Brandon Blackstone?
Brandon Blackstone passed away at the age of 48 after battling cancer for an extremely long time. The tragedy struck on August 7, 2025, leaving the entire family heartbroken. Even though Reba divorced his father, Narvel Blackstock, back in 2015, her bond with Brandon never really faded, making this a huge loss for her. Reba had been a big part of his life despite their separation, and even spent the last few days with her son. Reba and Narvel shared a beautiful baby boy, Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock, who is a race car driver. However, that never changed her love for Brandon.
The Sun had reported that Brandon was seen spending time with Reba, Kelly, and the rest of the family at the Houston Rodeo in March 2025. The photos from the same feel a lot more emotional now. Brandon, who worked as a talent manager, died surrounded by loved ones. Reba also came to spend the final moments with her beloved stepson, once again reflecting on their strong bond. It was hours before Brandon’s demise that his ex-wife and singer, Kelly Clarkson, had also cancelled her August residency to be there with her and Brandon’s children.
