Pooja Hegde’s song ‘Monica’ from the Tamil film ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth, has now earned the attention of Monica Bellucci. In a recent interview, Hegde expressed her delight at Bellucci’s praise, stating, “Oh, really? Wow. That’s the biggest compliment ever.” She noted her admiration for Bellucci’s iconic style, saying, “I’ve actually always loved Monica Bellucci. She was so iconic in her own way for her persona.”

‘Coolie’ is one of the year’s most anticipated Tamil releases, known for its action-packed narrative. Hegde will play a cameo in the film and will appear in the song, ‘Monica’.

The interviewer sent the ‘Monica’ song to Melita Toscan, a friend of Monica Bellucci and said that the latter “loved it”. Hegde acknowledged fans’ contributions in spreading the song’s reach, telling The Hollywood Reporter India, “I believe a lot of people were commenting on her Instagram, and a lot of Tamil fans were saying, ‘Please go watch Coolie’s song.'” She appreciated the fans’ efforts, recognising their role in connecting with Bellucci.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s decision to include ‘Monica’ for the commercial appeal has been affirmed by its reception. Hegde expressed her excitement over the director’s trust, saying, “For a director like him to say that, and put their money where their mouth is by hiring me for that job – and for it to help the film – that’s very exciting for me.”

Bellucci’s positive reception of the song was a welcome surprise for Hegde. “So it was a big feat. But I’m glad. I’m glad she liked it,” Hegde remarked.

‘Coolie’ is poised to make a significant impact with its blend of action and storytelling. Featuring Rajinikanth and Kanagaraj’s direction, it is set to attract audiences across regions.

‘Coolie’ will release in theatres on August 14 and will clash with ‘War 2’.
