The L.A. Brand Behind Taylor Swift’s Affordable Diamond Necklace Is Treating Jewelry Lovers to Free Gifts All Month

Jewelry label Melinda Maria is celebrating two decades of accessorizing stars — including Julia Roberts, who helped put the brand on the map — with free surprises for shoppers through the end of the month.

The entire month of August, the Los Angeles-based brand is offering weekly giveaways with surprise scratchers in every order. To sweeten the deal, shoppers also get a free limited-edition heart necklace valued at $125 with purchases of $98 or more. Los Angeles-based designer Melinda Maria Spigel founded her namesake accessories company in 2005 after winning big on Hollywood Squares, The Price Is Right and other game shows and putting her prize money towards her burgeoning business.

“I was 29, and I was doing a bunch of things in Los Angeles; I was a production assistant, I was a makeup artist and I was always making jewelry and selling it on the side,” she recently told Today’s Jill Martin. “I’d do what most people do is I get resourceful and I went on game shows. [I thought] I need to make money, I’m scrappy.”

Julia Roberts included the designer’s bracelets in her “Favorite Things” segment during an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show, putting Melinda Maria on the map. Last year, Spigel opened her first store in L.A., where she’ll host a 20th anniversary event on Aug. 29.
