Three people were killed on Monday in a shooting at a Target store in Austin, Texas, and a suspect has been detained.
Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said that the suspect fled the scene after the shooting, stole then wrecked a car and hijacked another. She said three people are dead and the suspect has been apprehended.
The shooting came amid back-to-school shopping ahead of the upcoming school year.
The Austin Police Department shared the news on the social media site X that the area remains active and that officials are attempting to lock down the area. Information regarding motive or what occurred leading up to the shooting has not been made public.

Video footage on social media indicates a heavy police presence in the parking lot of the store, with several emergency vehicles.
