Bethenny Frankel is “afraid to date.”
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum took to TikTok over the weekend to make the vulnerable “confession.”
In the selfie-style video, Frankel clarified that she’s not “actually actively afraid” but rather “hesitant,” likening the situation to the trauma from food poisoning.
“You know how when you get food poisoning, you’re just scared to eat that food again, even though rationally you know that you’re likely not gonna get food poisoning again from that same food? But you just can’t bring yourself to do it,” she explained.
“That’s how I am after all of these months of not dating at all.”
The 54-year-old admitted that she will hype herself up and “start talking to someone” but ultimately “run away.”
“I’ll just stop texting. It’s not a breadcrumb thing. I’m not a breadcrumber,” she said of the dating approach that involves sporadic acts of attention that don’t often result in a meaningful connection.
Instead, the former Bravolebrity told her followers that she will dip her foot in the pool, find that it’s “too cold” and then decide she doesn’t “wanna go in.”
“And I’m doing that a lot,” she added.
“So maybe one day the pool will be warm, and it’ll be a beautiful enough day to like get in, but until that day, I’m not even dipping my toe in anymore,” she vowed.
In June, Frankel took to Instagram to post a video about the struggle of dating men in their 50s because “this is the age where they like to breadcrumb. … They are looking for adult pen pals that perhaps they could sleep with.”
The Skinnygirl founder’s last public relationship was with Tom Villante, with whom she was last seen in December 2024.
Prior to that, she was engaged to Paul Bernon.
Frankel shares daughter Bryn, 15, with her second husband, Jason Hoppy.
Her first marriage was to Peter Sussman.
